MEC Library Archives: Using Collection Descriptions

How to find collection descriptions

Descriptions of MEC Library archival collections are held in ArchivesSpace. The collections themselves are located in the Archives. Patrons cannot just walk to the shelves and browse them. That is why archivists describe their collections and make these descriptions available to users. These descriptions are called finding aids; ArchivesSpace contains these finding aids.

To access collection descriptions, click here or go to the Library Archives page and find the link to ArchivesSpace. You will be taken to the Collections page.

Browse the collection descriptions or search them using available filters (see the right-hand menu).

How to use ArchivesSpace

Users can browse collection descriptions or filter results by using a keyword or a dates range types of search.

Additionally, subject or names filters can be employed.
