Library Support Services for the Nursing Program

  • Robust print and electronic collection. Current nursing texts spanning from 2013 - present.
  • Special collection of historical monographs the Nursing department has deemed worthy of saving for both posterity and the History of Medicine research.  
  • Holdings for the Nursing department in the following collections: Reserves, Reference, Stacks, Electronic Resources, and Archives. Reserves are the up-to-date course Textbooks available for students to use for a 2-hour time period.
  • Computer labs with printers. 
  • 24-7 off-site access.
  • CUNY library consortium: Patrons have full access/borrowing privileges from all CUNY libraries.

  • 9,502 professional journals available to Nursing students under Subject Heading: Health and Biological Sciences
  • Print subscriptions include: American Journal of Nursing, Clinical Nursing Research, Journal of Holistic Nursing, Journal of the National Medical Association, Journal of Transcultural Nursing, Nursing Administration Quarterly, Nursing Research, and Nursing Science Quarterly.  
  • Electronic access to 265 Nursing journals

Reference Services

  • Email, chat reference, research consultations, and other online meetings between library faculty and students and/or faculty provided either in-person or remotely.

Instruction 

  • Individualized Consultation.
  • Online or in-person.
  • Scheduled directly from chat, or by email.
  • In-class Information Literacy Instruction.
  • One-shot sessions embedded in regular classes at MEC.
  • Synchronously, fully online, using Zoom, taught by a librarian.
  • Available on Blackboard Collaborate.
